About Your Instructor

David Irwin, who has always been intrigued by lighting in film and television, began his decades-spanning career in California. He gained his first exposure by simply walking on set and asking questions. Those questions turned into experience and burgeoning knowledge of an evolving craft. David worked on many projects out in LA, including many Nickelodeon shows. His job titles have included Chief Rigging Technician (Rigging Gaffer), Chief Lighting Technician (Gaffer), and Assistant Chief Lighting Technician (Best Boy). Now in Georgia, David is the Operations Manager for the world’s largest studio advisory and production services company, MBS Equipment Co. He has since worked on many of the Marvel movies filmed right here in Fayette County!
